June 1999
England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland
Our first stop was London where we saw all the great landmarks and got to take pictures of them just like everybody else. This is Tower Bridge.
We saw the changing of the guards on the Anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. The marching band played many songs in front of Buckingham Palace.

We tasted all the local food and drink including Bangers and Mash and of course a pint of Guiness!

We took the train to Twickenham, England. We found the house where Lizzy was born!

We also visited Windsor Castle. It burned a few years ago and the restoration was incredible. Here I am taking video of the beautiful courtyard.

Next we boarded the 122 passenger Clipper Adventurer for a seven day cruise. Here she sits in Loch Fine near the town of Inveraray, Scotland where I finally got a decent picture.
Here are some pictures of the places we visited during our cruise.

Dartmouth, England  Tresco Island, Isles of Scilly, England

Picton Castle, Fishguard, Wales  Dublin, Ireland

Holyhead, Wales  Inveraray Castle, Ivararay, Scotland

After the cruise we took a bus from Invararay to Glasgow, Scotland, where we rented a car. We stayed overnight at the Town House Hotel and left for a full day's drive to Alnwick, England.

We visited Stirling Castle in Stirling, Scotland. This is a statue of Robert the Bruce.
It was very exciting to finally meet "Mac" (Harry McQuinn). He has been emailing us quite some time and it was fun to visit with Mac and Bea. Here we are at the train station in Newcastle, England right before I boarded the train. The train ride back to London was very pleasant and fast.

We spent our last night in the U.K. in the Hilton Hotel at Gatwick airport. It was very comfy and nice. Unlike the two previous nights and the long plane ride home.
