November 2001
Holland and Belgium
In November of 2001, Lizzy and I decided to go back to Amsterdam with some of our friends. Here I am in Dam Square on a cold and wet afternoon.
We went with Lizzy's sister Alice and our Uncle Ted. Here they are on the train as we headed for the nearby city of Delft.
Our good friend Barry went with us to Amsterdam. We had a traditional Dutch dinner one night and he had dinner at the Italian restaurant you can see behind him.

When we got off the train in Delft we were greeted by a group of riot police. We really never figured out what they were doing there.
This is a beautiful courtyard we saw at the Delft Pottery Factory.

Inside the pottery factory we saw them painting and pouring all the ceramics by hand.
For Thanksgiving we went to an Indonesian restaurant and had a traditional rice table. Here is our happy group after we filled up with some great food. Notice the chocolate turkeys Lizzy brought to get us in the spirit.
This is the original Bulldog coffee shop in Amsterdam.
Lizzy and I went to Belgium and visited Antwerp. It is a very old city and was very beautiful.
There was a bunch of music and singing in the street and we saw this. It had something to do with Santa Claus, but we really didn't understand it all.
Back in Holland we visited some windmills and saw this barge full of chocolate go by.
Here Lizzy and I are at the top of the windmill. Notice the blade of the windmill going by behind us on the left.
Lizzy and Alice.
The owner of the cheese shop asked Ted and Me to carry some cheese out to the barn.
Can you tell we're in Holland?
On our last night we celebrated Ted's birthday in our hotel room. We had fun and then had to pack our bags and head for home.
