St. Louis Mardi Gras March 1, 2003

At Lizzy's suggestion, our kickball team, The Toe Jamz (www.skarocks.org), and friends volunteered to build and decorate the float for one of Daryl's radio stations, KLOU. The theme was "Studio 103: A 70s Disco." We spent about five weekends painting in the basement and doing construction in the snow(!). Above is a photo of the float lined up for the parade -- dig that disco ball!

Above left: Alice, Lizzy's sister, and
Nathan "Pretty Boy" Robbins. That's his real hair!

Above, Amy "The Wall" Knepper, Emily "Half" Nelson, Laura "I must be crazy, I'm moving in with Amy and Laura," and Laura " "lo'mo'fo" Nelson.

Here are some other views of the float.

We were theoretically dressed in 70s' disco clothes, although the interpretation was broad!

Below, the whole gang as we left the staging area to start the parade. Liz "The Lizard" and Daryl "Big Pimpin'" are all the way to the right, by the "VIP room."

Above, Spencer Seher, Holly Smith, and Carolina and Jim "Admiral" Perry.

Vince Kentzinger, Bill "Coach Dirty" Nickrent, and Andrea "Dre" Walker.

People from the station got into the spirit too!
Here's Vicky, a friend of Tim Gilbert's, and
Julie Tristan, who does traffic in the morning.

Another member of our kickball team, Katie "Kiki" Vaughn, is a long-time member of the Flesh Eaters Krewe, so she rode their float. She's all the way to the left in this picture.

Midday on-air personality Tim Gilbert, and his friend Vicky. Love the outfit, Tim!

Above: The crowd was actually not as large as usual since it was cold (it snowed about 3-5 inches the night before), but this is the view from the float! Below: Dre and Coach Dirty leaving...bye!
